Hello All,
Welcome back to Williams College (Place of Knowledge). Now that you’re here, all you need to do is collect your room key and reunion gear at the Faculty House, relax, and enjoy our 20th reunion celebration. Here’s a brief summary of the weekend’s scheduled activities:
Thursday Evening (June 5): Reunion lectures in the afternoon. Beginning at 6:00 p.m., we will have an informal pizza dinner and beverages in the Freshman Quad, our class headquarters, for the folks who have arrived early.
Friday Morning and Afternoon (June 6): Reunion lectures from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m., including “Perspectives from the Ground and Air in Iraq,” which features two of our classmates, Paul Danielson, Lieutenant Colonel, U.S. Army Reserve and Lieutenant Colonel John (“J.R.”) Rahill, F-16 Pilot, the Green Mountain Boys, Vermont Air National Guard
Friday Evening (June 6): From 5:30 to 9:30, cocktails and a casual family dinner under the tent in the Freshman Quad. In addition, Tom Smith, Orion Howard and Eric Hanson will offer samplings of their home brews for all who are interested.
Saturday Morning (June 7): at 9:30, we will line ourselves up on the Chapin / Paresky for the Alumni Parade, to be followed by the annual meeting of the Society of Alumni in Chandler Gymnasium (the “new” gym), which will begin around 10:15. Remember to sport your oldest, most faded Williams t-shirt or sweatshirt for the parade!
Saturday Afternoon (June 7): at 12:00 noon, an all-College picnic lunch will be held on Chapin / Paresky lawn (rain location is the hockey rink). At 1:00 p.m., in Hopkins Hall (Lower Level, Socratic Classroom) our classmate and current Williams Associate Director of Admission, Sean Logan, will offer a high school/college information session that will include, among other topics, the high school program, various testing options, extra curricular activities, creating a viable list of colleges and universities, and the college essays. From 3:30 p.m. until about 4:30 p.m., everyone is welcome to meet on Poker Flats for pick-up soccer games, including both a kid’s game and an adult game.
Saturday Evening (June 7): At 5:30 p.m. we will provide a children’s dinner under the tent in the Freshman Quad. At 6:30 p.m., adults will have cocktails followed by a sit-down dinner under the tent on the Chapin / Paresky lawn. We will also have after-dinner drinks, a DJ and dancing, and our slide show under the tent.
Sunday Morning (June 8): At 7:30 early risers can have a Continental breakfast (bagels, coffee, juice, etc.) in the Freshman Quad. From 8:00 until 10:00 a full brunch menu (including tater tots) will be available in the Freshman Quad as we say our goodbyes.
Have a great weekend!
